Special Issue: Modeling & Simulation in Military Medical Systems

Introduction

System descriptions, often focused on the complexities of technical systems and subsequent program risk, are under-represented in the core realm of military medical systems for U.S. and Coalition Forces. This special issue is therefore interested in contributions that are descriptive or prescriptive representations illuminating military medical systems across the span from policy to specific programs, with an emphasis on measurable and reproducible conclusions. Potential contributions can include but are not limited to:

Strategic, operational, and tactical analytics that support planning for
medical forces across all spectrums of conflict

Modeling combined and joint medical support across the full spectrum of
operations

Means to evaluate effectiveness of military medical support
Means of describing medical systems over the different phases of military
operations

Logistical challenges for military medical systems
Integration of military medical systems into different force structures (e.g., kinetic, SASO, humanitarian relief,..)

Standard "-ilities" via risk, schedule, cost & performance
 
Materiel / Non-Materiel Effectiveness Evaluation Techniques as applied to medical operations
 
Course of Action Development / Analysis and Architecture / System mix

Effects of training on military medical outcomes

Note: Manuscripts must not have been previously published or be submitted
for publication elsewhere. Each submitted manuscript must include title,
names, authors' affiliations, postal and e-mail addresses, and a list of
keywords. For multiple author submission, please identify the corresponding
author.

Due Dates
Submission of abstracts deadline   December 31, 2009
Notification of acceptance   January 31, 2010
Submission of final (revised) paper   March 30, 2010
Publication Expected   Spring / Summer 2010

Submissions for abstract / full paper review
All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the JDMS
Manuscript Submission System. To upload the paper, follow the displayed
instructions. In the title page, author(s) must specifically mark that the
paper is intended for this special issue as follows: "Submission for the
Special Issue of JDMS: Modeling & Simulation in Military Medical Systems".

Final paper submissions
Each final submission must be prepared based on the JDMS journal
requirements (see the Author Guidelines for JDMS page).
